I dont think the mac mini sells very well and they are trying to get rid of it all together.

I think apple would do well to sell a mid range workstation with C2Q parts... although saying that we dont know how much longer it is until i5 as all kind of dates seem to have been pulled forward atm.

Apple have never announced dumping the mini, it has always been lame rumours.

In fact there has been a reply from apple saying they haven't forgotten the mini just before xmas. So it maybe updated soon. (Boy does it need it).

I hope so, I have the current top model sat here on my desk at work and the 2gb memory cripples it from time to time. I love working on it though and when I need to test both mac and windows configs at work, just load up the virtual pc in parallels and off I go. An absolute dream to work with, just a few niggles with it on the network but other than that I hope they do update them a bit.

I suppose with the current climate and people keeping their money close, the mini would help gain sales for a general desktop pc, its small enough you could cart it round if need be

As long as the rumour about the mini going Atom for the processor isn't true then the mini desperately needs updating.

Although an Atom CPU with the 9400m chipset would make a great HTPC especially if could get get a HDMI output.

I reckon now that the lower power Quads are out then these are likely to find there way into the iMac. Only danger is that Apple may see this as damaging potential sales of people that buy Single Quad Core Mac Pro's instead.

True but at the same time i think the Mac Pro will be reworked with the dual i7 system which is around the corner.
