Re: News - BT becomes the first UK mobile operator to announce free calls to 0800 num

I'm not sure it's accurate to say they're the first...
I know they're not at the moment, but I'm sure 0800 numbers were free on Orange about 10 years ago.

Not a fair comparison to be honest, when I got my first Orange phone, texts were free. However not all phones could receive them!

Not sure how that relates to 0800 numbers though?

Someone obviously agrees as the thread title seems to have been edited to remove the "first" claim anyway.

yeah, that post kinda went awry - Orange announced texts were free, then joined the bandwagon that meant they were paid for...that was my argument! Bit like BT saying it's free and then capitulating..again...

I have a work BT-Mobile Blackberry so don't have to worry about the bill, but at least this will get rid of the annoying pre-recorded message before going through to my local curry house/chinese etc

Re: News - BT Mobile announces free calls to 0800 numbers

I always thought the BT mobile prices and tarifs were well over prices and under value.

Do many people even use the BT mobile service?

Maybe BT should also offer some good value tarifs too.
