I would like the iphone to actually do one thing its meant to do properly and not be praised just because its an apple device and has an i in the name.
Er.. it does..

1. Hardware QWERTY
2. Multitasking
Do both of those and i'll buy one. Until then it's a no-go zone.
1. Not going to happen - go buy a winmo/android phone.
2. It already can to a certain extent, and will be able to to a greater extent in v3, but it's not really as big an issue as you'd be led to believe.

I don't own one, but i would like to see these improvements:
* video recording
* more pixels for the camera and screen
* 3rd party apps
* changeable battery
* extendable memory
* Real-Time GPS
I'd like it to be priced reasonably for what it really is: a basic smartphone with a fancy UI. if I can get one for ~ £100 on ~ £20 a month tarrif (like when I got my SPV M600) then I'd seriously consider it. Until then it's going to be some variant of the HTC Touch if I go smartphone again.
So the rumours are increased memory and wi-fi? That's so dull I'm not even inclined to yawn. People need to stop working themselves up for innovation when it pretty obviously won't be happening.
Look at it from Apple's perspective: they are making a killing selling the current generation iPhone, they are not going to stab those people in the back by making a revolutionary new one! (even if they do have a history of such disdainful acts) Being revolutionary also risks alienating all the iPhone wannabes who havent got one yet. So it'll be an incremenetal improvement on the present product and that'll be all.
I can't see thee being anything groundbreaking with any new hardware. Most of the good stuff is in the new software which will be available to existing 3G owners.
A2DP, MMS, copy/paste, better app support etc.
I would have thought the new hardware would just be a general upgrade, better camera, higher res screen, perhaps a faster processor (but i don't know if that would be justified or not), perhaps a real GPS, more memory, etc.

Its nothing ground-breaking at all the main new feature is that 3rd party apps can use a push feature that provides updates while working in the background without draining alot of battery life or using up too many cpu cycles...
It means programs like Instant messaging apps can alert you to new messages while your not in the application and doing somthing else just like normal text messages do in the current OS version
