Is i7 becoming accesible at long last then? What's a decent MB/i7 run to now?

    Around £150 for the cheapest X58 motherboard and £226 for a 920.

Enthusiast mobos are still £250 plus. The one I'm looking at getting soon (Asus P6T6 WS Revolution) is about £300
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Accessible might be pushing it, with the CPU + Mobo costing a minimum of £400. But certainly more realistic than it was on release - particularly given the low price of the HD4870 and GTX260 which are graphics cards that make sense of an i7 system. You should be able to put together a decent "entry level" i7 system for about £750ish. Not bad considering the performance it'd come with...

On the other hand, this does make an AM3 system very accessible - you could get an X3 720, decent AM3 mobo and 4GB DDR3 for < £300... and upping that to an X4 940 still shouldn't push you over £350...

i picked up 4gb of 1333 ocz reapers for £68 a couple of weeks back on aria cas 6 stuff as well the price is definitely alot better now, i still wouldn't do core i7 until there are a larger range of boards around for it, and when the performance of them makes it worth switching over but most of us in game would not notice a huge difference between a well clocked core2 duo/quad over an i7
