If this was supposed to be high-end, why didn't they include a dual core Atom 330 and 2GB ram?

That's what I've been wondering with a lot of these Atom netbooks (not to mention their sort-of-desktop counterparts)... where's the dual-core 330 CPU? Whilst you don't *need* a dual core CPU, even on XP once you have AV/security software installed, and a couple of browser windows with flash playing (cough Hexus!), that 2nd core will seem really handy!

Im pretty sure Intel put something in place to stop the use of the Dual cores in netbooks, could be wrong though.

Also why arnt they using the Ion platform? Or have a decent screen?

I'm sure Intel vetoed dual core Atoms too. The screens on these netbooks are LED backlit, thus the longer battery life, thinner dimensions, and the price. I'm still with battery life if I go the netbook route however, and I reckon a better screen and Ion would make 4 hours+ an impossibility....and that's what I'd personally rather have!

The dual-core 330 has no EIST and therefore pulls a lot more power when idling than the N-series Atoms - not good for a light netbook with a smallish battery! It also has a much higher TDP - 8W as compared to 2.5W for the N-series. Combine those 2 factors and it's simply impractical for genuine netbooks - although I would be interested to see a slightly more beefed-up 12" netbook with a larger battery utilising one...

Don't get me started - I'm running a Core 2 Duo T7250 and I *still* occasionally get my Hexus tab of Opera utilising 70% CPU.... (not that I'm knocking hexus, you understand... )
