This may be a silly question but is it just for home/client PC's or is there a server version too or 'one size fits all'?

Anything on the rumour mill as to whether Windows Defender is bundled with this? Got to wonder how long it'll take the EU to issue anti-trust against Microsoft for bundling anti-spyware with windows...

Microsoft Security Essentials? For the love of god, out of the 4 they were considering that couldn't pick "Microsoft Personal Security"? That would have been much better.

Hell I'd even prefer Microsoft Morro. Just like Kumo was better than Bing.

Who honestly cares what it's called? Lifes too short

Anyway, seems like a good thing to me - sadly they'll be prevented from shipping it with Windows in the future though. If I had a pound for every home PC i've seen which had out of date trial-antivirus software on it..

Indeed. I already use WLMessenger and WLMail. And I'll be using MSE when it comes out. Now all they need is to work on their firewall now. I would like a little more advanced control of what it does.

Then thats it, gonna be perfect!

Lets hope the EU keep their noses out of this one (but they won't will they?)

Re: News - Freeware "Morro" anti virus to be branded as Microsoft Security Essentials

well since it isnt bundled with windows and most likely come with the windows live essentials suite i dont think the EU can complain.

What im thinking is if i adjust the real time protection to only scan downloaded files i can have it replace defender and still use kaspersky antivirus. double protection and no problems.
I have backups so if it doesnt work like that i can go back if needed. if i have time ill try the beta.

I'm pretty sure Morro disables defender when installed as it has its own spyware engine.

The opportunity for cheap jokes is weaker with the new name. Not gone, just weaker
