How come they lose money? Didnt they do their maths that to build a PS3 will cost £10, so if we want £5 profit in our pocket, we should sell it for £15?

They did different maths - lose $5 per console but make $10 per sold game instead. If each console has an attach rate of say 10 games then they're still making $95 per console sale, so it's worth the cut in price if you make any additional sales as a result.

They also did the maths of, sell console at break even, no bugger buys it, no one buys the games. Better to sell at a loss rather than not sell at all.

A blue-ray drive, a cell 'co-processor' and a graphics chip that you wouldn't be able to get 10 pounds for on ebay? Nope, the tech is well out of date. You buy a PS3 for the Sony license.

Its also been overtaken by a long way by stand alone blue ray players now.

For a year at least most of the av sites and mags recomended the ps3 as a good entry level for playback but now there are far better quality players for less money(panasonic models for 150)
