am i the only one confused at the last one screaming about how wonderfull it is by doing 24fps?

    TWENTYFOUR?

your eyes cant see anything better than 25fps true, but at 24fps i'd be screaming, is there something i'm missing here?

24 (or 23.975 AFANK) is the frame rate that the films are produced/filmed at, so ~24fps is the true frame rate

Actually, if you play video games, we can see 72fps on average. We can even see a blank screen flash white for one frame then back to blank for 1/200th of a second, so 200fps. Depending on what you are doing, 24fps is fine for watching videos as there is less detail than say, a photograph.

Re: News - BenQ announces trio of high-def DLP projectors

The point is that a normal monitor or projector will run at a multiple of 25 or 30hz. This means that films, which are recorded at 24fps, have to have each video frame last slightly more than one screen refresh. This conversion process is said to give an inferior quality. That's what I gather from sketchy memory anyway.

If anyone knows why they don't use 25 or 30fps on new digitally filmed titles then I'd be interested to know, backward compatibility is my best guess. In which case maybe modern tvs/projectors/monitors should be multiples of 24hz. Again I'm sure there are good reasons.

I recently upgraded to Sony VPL-VW50 SXRD 1080p projector and I promise once you experience high definition on an 84inch screen with surround sound, you will never want to go back to a normal tv again.
