Shame that this kind of practice is commonplace. I wouldn't blame games companies for moving towards services like OnLive as a result (though I'd prefer they didn't).

imo its this free advertising that put more and more pirates into these streams...

no one reads about piracy no one will know, then it will only be a very small problem when a handful are doing it .

The thing is lads, pirating on the 360's are DEAD easy compared to pc's. Console contains little to no drm whatsoever, no online activations and no cd keys to play it.

The 360 is also the easiest console to hack this gen. You cant beat piracy. Piracy always wins and no moaning about it wont change it.

Re: News - Pirates enjoy Forza 3 ahead of release

They should have used HD-DVD as a main drive or something to make each game take up the dummy space of the HD-DVD, making games too massive to download and far more awkward to burn etc.

Isn't that why I never hear about piracy on the PS3?

You would have to be incredibly naive to actually believe this. So if the news just stopped reporting when someone gets murdered, do you think that there will be less murderers? I mean come on, you can't seriously believe what you are suggesting?

It's ridiculously easy to pirate games right now. Anyone can do it, and because of that a lot of people do it without thinking.

The key to fighting piracy isn't DRM (pirated versions just have it removed) or just "not talking about it" since clearly these methods don't work. Things like Batman: Arkham Asylum seemed to prove quite effective - put game breaking bugs in pirated versions of games.

"get forza 3 for free in four hours!!"

thats what it screams to me haiku....

ok so not advertising the piracy effects might not have THAT much of an effect but it will stop even if it is just a few just piling onto the piracy bandwagon

Wrong. Consoles, even the 360, have a level of unobtrusive DRM that we're only just beginning to get on the PC. It does work pretty well - piracy on consoles is a mere fraction of the level as on the PC, whereas on the PC you just click a single link in your browser and you can pirate a game.

That's what they said about the invention of the CD-ROM. Then they said it about the invention of DVDs..

No, size isn't the issue. PS3 has some pretty good built in DRM, both the TPM and the watermark variety, and presumably other stuff. This is Sony we're talking about.

I know it is a bit off-topic, but does anyone know what Sony actually put in the PS3 to make it unhackable, well nothing is unhackable, but from what I know, nobody has managed to get it properly hacked yet.

Really where does it say that?

The ps3 is only slightly less hackable due to the current blu ray encryption techniques as well as the issue of game size to download.

All consoles are hackable, but pc games are easier to find, download and play if you have the pc. You don't need to modify your pc to run a dodgy game.

Please be careful where this thread goes, guys. No links to anything used for pirating or cracking, or to dodgy sites, etc.

Nothing that's been said so far goes to far, but it's getting a little close. Please don't go too far.

Like i said, its just a rumour mate. I disagree with the download sizes of stuff. if its free then people will be patient enough to wait a week to play a "free" game mate and thats with someone with a slowish internet speed.

some people with over 10mbps broadband could download a 50gb file in one or two days mate.

I Also disagree how pc games are easier to find. how can they be? the same places you see these pirated pc games are the same places you see console games.

The only thing i agree on is that you dont have to modify your PC. I remember this time last year fabl;e 2 and gears of war 2 were leaked a few weeks early as well. o bet you a million pounds that COD MW2 will be leaked first week of November if not earlier.

It would be nice if Turn 10 just released the game this friday
