iPod, iMac, ... i3, i5, i7, i9. It all makes sense now. Intel and Apple are just having one giant unholy love-in.

What doesn't make sense? Apple charge a eye-bleeding fortune for such machines and so it makes sense to punt it out to them first. Lest we forget the reason why stacks of us aren't on i7 - the intially insanely priced motherboards, RAM and processor.

Exactily. Apple have had first refusal on all of intel's fastest CPU's every time they have launched since they went x86

Meh, they need the extra power to push that god awful OS /Raises flame shield.

I don't think it really matters anyway tbh, we know its coming and how many of us really need 12 threads ? Note the word need & not want

It's mostly overkill outside the datacentre, but I guess Mac Pros do get action in clusters and potentially using NAS storage etc when in serious design houses... sort of things that might saturate a 1Gb link... possibly... and hey, you just got ripped off on the Mac, why not spend a few grand on your switch too...
