Interesting, although I never did see where these two fitted together.
Although here in the UK AOL doesn't really exist as it once did, now just a subsidary of Carphone Warehouse IIRC
"With the separation of AOL, we've returned to our roots as one of the leading content companies in the world. "
I thought the roots of AOL is an ISP.......
I think Warner are probably glad to be rid of one of the worst ISP around, actually wouldn't surprise me if someone, somewhere to do with Warner brought up a load of shares to buy them out.
True, if that quote was coming from someone in AOL the roots would be an ISP. But it came from Time Warner Chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes. Gotta read the entire article.
"With the separation of AOL, we've returned to our roots as one of the leading content companies in the world. We're now better positioned to focus even more closely on driving the best possible performance at our content businesses in the most efficient way," said Time Warner Chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes.
"I'm confident that Time Warner is on track to generate steady, attractive financial results and improve returns to our stockholders. At the same time, we believe that AOL will have greater operational and strategic flexibility as a standalone company."
Synergy is complex and I cant think of any company in the world to successfully have made the transition.
