One thing. The power connectors on the reference model and the Vapor X model are on the side. This means that I can just about fit them in my Antec 300. The PCS+ with it's connectors at the end will not.

Genuinely tempting if it is the quietest 5870 on the market. Not sure about £360 though.

The new 5870 Vapor-X model has revised this to have the power connectors at the back again sadly.

Powercolor. Why is it so bloody difficult to get hold of their passive 5750 model? I saw it at Novatech, but at £120 it really wasn't well priced. Now they no longer stock that model.

This 5870 looks intresting for power gamers who don't want to go _nuts_ on budget, but for those of us who want the best performance silence can offer, 5750 seem the best compromise.

Re: Reviews - PowerColor PCS+ Radeon HD 5870 graphics card review

I like Saphire cards, they're good quality & reliable, but the extra premium for what is effectively just a more effectively cooled card (allowing it to be overclocked better) isn't enough for me. Plus, will all the cards clock as well as this sample? I would hazard a guess they picked test samples they were pretty damned sure would perform above expectations, or am I just being a tad cynical? If they all were going to perform that well then the factory overclock could be set a bit higher imo, giving better test results than this card presented, which imo were of negligible value over the std part.

Having said all that, the extra £40 would be almost the cost of an equally effective aftermarket cooler.

Anyone who's ever tried to contact PowerColor customer support will be more than happy to scratch this one off their list I think.

It might, but it would be very expensive to test ! (Alright, DSR would allow me to do so...but I'm not wholly comfortable with that)

I am really Happy now , I took the decision to buy the ATI 5850 because was the only one between the 5870 and 5850 made with the connectors at the end of the card instead at the side of the card , now this new ATI 5870 fortunately have also the connectors at the end , and therefore I am really happy

Re: Reviews - PowerColor PCS+ Radeon HD 5870 graphics card review

That MSI Lightning looks to be the card to have - with a price tag to match of course.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

How long is this card? Hoping it is shorter than the reference design.
