I like iPlayer and the alternatives at 1st the quality on my 40" was questionable but now it seems they have improved this which has made me use it more often. I would imagine it to soar even higher as soon as people and technology catch up with this service.

Have a read on the different streaming options. Basically the player will start at flashvhigh and move down to flashhigh then flashstd.
Flashvhigh is amazing and almost as good as broadcast, flashhigh is good but you'll notice a few artifacts in fast scenes, flashstd is 'internet quality'.
But you are right, the quality can be amazing...
iplayer is also very useful for listening to the radio at work on a network conntection.
But iplayer has come a long way. Would be good if one service intergrated ITV player and iplayer and on4demand etc etc
I've done this for years when it was Listen Again and live streaming. It's good it isn't limited to RealAudio now

Ain't that what www.seesaw.com is?
It's only just launched so expect more and more to be added to the service shortly
iPlayer rocks. Hardly watch BBC on the telly anymore. It is all on iPlayer.
It's a shame that such a good service is getting so popular but with crappy flash as their driving technology. To be fair, the thing wasn't built for video but adobe could still do better methinks
There was huge increase in iPlayer popularity since Sony added it to PS3 firmware - which is brilliant!
Virgin wanted some money apparently from BBC cuz of the strains on their network - silly fools got nothing hehe
My Blog => http://adriank.org
Virgin have integrated it into their "tv catchup" direct on their STBs though.
It would help if the OFT didn't keep blocking attempts by companies that try and offer a combined VOD platform!!
Apparently it is anti-competitive, and offers too much power
silverlight looks better it is more modern but then again it's the same principle. why can't we just have videos hosted in .ogm or .mkv or .avi files and have your default player do the rest. I mean, with silverlight you still need something to be installed right?
anyway, anything public or political ends up looking nonsensical eventually

I also notice Iplayer is now including films and american shows such as Heroes, which has been ommitted before. I see though the Olympics are still not being showed when the first started streaming they blanked out whole of the news which had some coverage in it, later they just did it for the report, when I emailed them about it (some years ago now) they said the Olympic association didn't allow any line of web showing.
