We need the competition. If they could also stock some more enthusiast parts that would really help.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
What about the one just of the A40 in London?

They secured the contract for the Aintree store about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and from what I can tell, they are fitting the shop as we speak. It's going to be a huge store! The retail park that it's on is only small as well.
I am guessing that Best Buy UK will be launching online in the Spring as well??
Currys' and PCWorld are supposed to be merging into one large format store from what I've heard also. Don't know if this is throughout the whole of DSGi or not though.
There are quite a few 2-in-1 stores as they are called in DSGi, they make alot more sense than competing with yourself if both stores are next to each other. I work in a Pc World that is right next to a Currys store, and the amount of time we, the staff, and customers waste going back and forth is ridiculous. Hopefully Best Buy will speed things up

about time someone else stole into DSG territory and gave them a bit of a wake up call.
They're staff generally are a bit hopeless and their prices shocking. Although it isn't all bad across the board I find, but certainly given some competition they'd have to improve I'd hope.
I generally agree with you there! The times I've been in there and overheard the conversation of the staff trying to give advice was rather poor imho!!
The only time I really go into any of those stores is when there are clearance items or I'm really desperate for a part...

As for Best Buy coming to the UK.... It can only be a good thing tbh. Now, if they can bring a wide selection of stuff and compete on prices like they do in the US then they'll see alot of me in their stores that's for sure!!

I'm in the USA right now and have been in both Best Buy and Fry's Electronics stores. If these are anything to go by don't be expecting better service or suchlike, in fact the sales people seemed worse to me. An assistant in the Sat\Nav department today couldn't be bothered at all to show me anything, had a real "don't bother me" attitude. Other people I talked to didn't have any depth of knowledge either, and loads of car-salesmen-PC-salesmen types lurking near the laptops/desktops, for the commission I suppose.
They are moving in next to "Mothercare" and next to "Comet". It's the old "Courts" unit. Pc World and Currys are on the park behind it.
