    News - ASRock blatantly displays Intel's unreleased six-core Core i7 980X chip at CeB

    The six-core, 12-threaded Core i7 980X doesn't officially exist, if you ask Intel. It's very real on ASRock's CeBIT 2010 stand.

    I know of people who picked up ES versions on ebay for £800-ish, despite the whole 'Intel own all ES chips' etc.

    That's decidedly less than 50% more performance, which you might hope for - given the similar clock speeds and 50% more cores.
