Riiiiight. I think I'd only do that if I won the Euromillions. And even then, I'd only do it the once - just for the sheer hell of it.

Re: News - XFX GeForce GTX 470 and 480 graphics cards pose for the camera

The size of the cooler and way the heatpipes are layed out seem to suggest that the 480 is going to be one hell of a hot card. I wouldn't want to have one of these beasts inside my computer.

You can tell that from the power requirements - energy going in has to come out somewhere But it's no worse than the 295 or 5970.

I suppose 700mhz is not too bad considering the issues they had and the size of the chip.

Wonder how much headroom is in there.........

It will be hugely variable- early manufactured ones will have less, but the odd example is likely to be okay. Once the process has matured a year or so down the line then it should be a lot better, but it's a bit of a minefield with low yield and late products like this.

Once they fix the manufacturing process, the fermi as intended will probably come out as a 490 GTX or something like that,

Re: News - XFX GeForce GTX 470 and 480 graphics cards pose for the camera

Given nVidia's naming strategy, it'll probably also be called a 480 and lead to much confusion as nobody knows what the heck is going on.

The length of the 480 is given, but what is the length of the 470? Thanks.
