I was almost tempted to reconsider my opinion of the iPad until you reminded me there's no flash in the browser.
It's just unforgivable!
So the handpicked Jobsian acolytes who got the first review samples found that the device was everything they want... I'm shocked (not)... they probably all have iPhones (and are used to it's limitations), to conclude anything else would be admitting they don't have the best elsewhere given that this thing is pretty much a larger iSomethingElseHandheld.
"Technology" writers have been fawning over Apple products for years now, ignoring obvious and glaring failures that would impact "techies" and consumers alike. Multitasking is such a huge and basic feature of computers for decades now, to not implement this properly is maybe excusable in a phone but definitely not in a pad, just because "non-techies" don't understand what they are missing doesn't mean they wouldn't benefit and enjoy it if they had it. How many people only have 1 thing running in Windows at once, email OR web, web OR video... it's just such a backwards step, as far as I'm concerned no matter how good everything else about the iPad (and iPhone/iPod) is, without multitasking it's a shiny useless toy.
Love that. Love the fact someone wrote something so stupid, that the editor allowed it....."The most compelling sign that Apple got this right is the fact that despite the novelty of the iPad, the excitement slips away after about ten seconds and you’re completely focused on the task at hand ... whether it’s reading a book, writing a report, or working on clearing your Inbox. Second most compelling: in situation after situation, I find that the iPad is the best computer in my household and office menagerie. It’s not a replacement for my notebook, mind you. It feels more as if the iPad is filling a gap that’s existed for quite some time."
The world has plenty of retards, they listen to cold play, voted for the nazi's, and now they can buy the iPad.

Yeah, what does this mean exactly?
The market is crying out for someone else to release a similar tablet but with Win 7, a usb port, flash support, and some form of multitasking, and I am sure it can be done for less money.
Why release it for less money?
Just because it can be done for less money, when there is a brand like apple, the idea of up-selling by say £50-100 for those features..... Seams good value, bundle it with the keyboard attachment apple charge extra for, makes it seam good value.

I'm gonna resolutely stand by my guns on this..
I am GAGGING to try an iPad and I am nearyl certain I'm gonna want one quite a lot.
I LOVE IBM machines guys.. windows and Bill Gates dominate my house.. but the iPod Touch is so clever it hurts.. and this is gonna be bigger and better.

Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Touchscreen tablets are really nothing new, and have been around for at least 10 years,
they've always failed in the past, its just apple's marketing machine driving them this time.
Translation - well this is the best computer in my household, when I exclude everything that its not a replacement for like my notebook. Its just that I had this huge gap in my life between the processor in my microwave and used toilet paper and this filled it nicely.I find that the iPad is the best computer in my household and office menagerie. But they tend to have stylus and a bit more bulkier. I've just been searching around google and the upcoming HP Slate looks decent.
