Bluray doesnt =sony?
Sony are just part of the BDA, Disney are one of the most investors i believe and there are loads of members in the BDA such as LG, major manufacturers and film publishers.
Its meant to be a look at the future, however if HD-DVD had one then you wouldnt have this problem as iirc the players already supports up to 10 layers (15gb in each layer so 150gb disks). What im looking at though is the HVD, Holographic versatile disk. This is theoretically maxed at 1 or 10TB so i cant wait for it actually be finished as it would put an end to this BR nonsense .
These are for data and archive storage, not for movie playback. You don't worry about your home DVD player being unable to play DVD-RAM, eh?
I have only just got my blu-ray writer, suppose it will be fine for my movies for a good while yet.
I don't think the BR-RE discs are too bad, with that I only own one to test burn things before I burn onto a write once disc.
I would have prefered HD-DVD due to several reasons, but I did pick loads up at £1-£3 when it died, I have sucessfully converted one to blu-ray and will do the rest when prices of the media drop further.
helpful information for me..
