What a shame, some of the best cards on the market and most definitely the best warranty.

Agreed. Perhaps they should've diversified to do ATI cards as well like some of the other formerly nvidia only AIBs.

    Pity.

My favourite graphics card company, bar none. I had 2 BFG cards before I made the switch to ATI.

Re: News - BFG says RIP to graphics card business

I agree they should have got on the ATI 5000 DX11 series wagon. They would have made some nice OC versions as well as water cooled.

Their withdrawal must have a lot to do with the late delivery of the 400 series/Fermi product from Nvidia.

Exactly, perhaps they will but have to cease nvidia parts first? (not knowing any agreements they may or may not have had with nvidia being sole supplier for instance)

Hopefully they will continue with ATi parts at some point, it will be a sad loss if they withdraw from the graphics arena completely.

Were they not the ones who gave 10 years warranty and the warranty could be transferable as well?!

I'm thinking the card wrecking driver scandel must have screwed them over pretty badly too.

They did lifetime warranties, and yes I remember getting a double-lifetime warranty from them as well, which was transferable.

Re: News - BFG says RIP to graphics card business

Man this sucks. I bought my first BFG off eBay (I was a very deprived kid when I was younger) many moons ago and it went bust within a month. I was amazed to find they had a lifetime warranty (or something silly within UK anyway) and was shipped back an upgraded brand new boxed card.

Fare thee well BFG. You shall be missed.

    That is a shame

I'm still running with their 7800GTX, its never given me any problems. Still good to hear that they are supporting customers even though they have stopped making any more

Re: News - BFG says RIP to graphics card business

Hypothetically, if nvidia were make to a defective product or driver, they would be mostly shielded from having to bear any responsibility to the customers b/c the customers go thru the OEMs. The poor OEMs have to lose money refurbishing/replacing.

Re: News - BFG says RIP to graphics card business

I don't know about that - it will all depend on the contracts they have. And doubtlessly the OEMs could sue them if they so wished.

I do wonder though, given how supposedly petty nVidia are meant to be (many commentators suggested that they didn't ship Fermi to XFX when yields were low because of XFX's work with ATI), that they might just prevent anything like that from happening by saying "any complaints, and you lose our chips. Hard to say really.

Re: News - BFG says RIP to graphics card business

    this is a bad blow.
Although I've been half expecting this for a while, they pulled out of the EU market a few months back and I heard rumors about that right back to when hipper went under.

This is a end result of the global economic troubles, although nvidia's delays and issues with the new cards has more than likely added to it.
