Totally. Will they ever stop making cases with chunky, knobbly bits of plastic stuck all over the outside?

Looks really good high air flow and dust filters on the front and side panels. Dont look to be any cooling for the easy swap hard drive bays, but the other five bays are covered by the front fan.

Not sure I can see the point of something this size other than possibly as a server.

6 hard disks? With 2TB drives that is merely 12TB of storeage or maybe 9-10TB in RAID 5 configuration.

How many 3.5" slots do you need? I struggle passed 3, DVD/Blu-Ray, fan controller and maybe a card reader - given that the best fan controllers do not need a 3.5" bay I suppose I could have room for 2 DVD/Blu-ray drives and a music nut would probably want a front panel to plug in their kit.

These enormous cases are nothing more than a willy waving competition

Umm thoes tooless fittings are not easy swap hadr drive bays they are 5.25" bays
The hot swapable bays are the five bays blow it with each hard drive giong in it's own caddy.

    Thoes dust filters

As to thoes who think the case is Fugly, just because you may not like the look does not mean others agree with you or it's ugly.
I do quite like the military-esk look and it's an improvement on the original HAF 932

I'm guessing it will be Steel as well :|
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: News - Cooler Master launches HAF X chassis

all this complaining and no one has picked up on a major breakthrough with this case, namely usb 3 ports. I wonder how they did it since afaik the pinout arrangment of the headers hasn't been agreed on yet. Is it modular, are they hoping to be lucky and guessed what the standard might be or would there be adoptors to purchase in future.

The large number of air cooled 3.5in bays can be very useful. If you have several old disks you can split your data amongst the spindles for better performance.especially useful for virtual machines where you can put vhds on different disks so that vms have a drive to themselves.

The original HAF didn't support eatx and now this version ommits xlatx. Not a big issue but since even dualsocket mobos aren't that large.

Didn't one of those recent Lian-li cases have USB3 ?

Ugh... Yet another chassis which would look better if you tossed it on a bonfire.

I'll give you a hint, Universal Serial Bus. Nothing new, nothing revolutionary.

Its a cable that runs inside the case to the back and out of the watercooling gromits to plug into the USB ports at the back. very ugly!

That's even worse, you'd think they'd at least plop a USB header on it, or multiplex the inputs.
