I was going to buy one but went and looked at it yesterday, its awful - awful video playback and its way to heavy to use like a laptop for browsing purposes or to use as a book!
Simply put...why?
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Fair play* to Apple, that's a great result.
*now improve factory conditions some more, go on, you can afford it.
I was listening to a US podcast where the host was also complaining about the weight - specifically saying that it was a heck of a strain on the wrists when he reading it perched on his lap (like a newspaper).
Yep, it's a good result for Apple, but I've got to wonder how much of that is due to the near-hysteria pre-launch, and can they sustain a good level of take-up in the longer term?
I certainly won't be buying one, since a Linux netbook (with a big battery) fits my needs far better for less outlay.

This comic explains why quite well - http://theoatmeal.com/comics/apple
Don't know anyone who actually owns one though and as I work with other tech crazy people it kinda makes me wonder who is.
I've liked it's slickness having used it but i really have to agree on the weight - would of preferred a removable secondary battery so i could have it 'light' when i wanted it and heavy if i knew i was going to be away from the power for prolonged periods of time (which is rare).
It'll be interesting to see other tablets - i am interested in the format!
^ Hey, so Apple managed to move Spock - he is half human
