Internet access is nice to have and annoying when absent but it's about as essential as a spare hat.
It depends.
For most people, its probably not essential, theyre just too daft to cope without it.
If you have children, its rapidly become so as none of them know how to use books or libraries.
If youre a sponge, its probably essential for something, claiming benefits or filing "accident compensation" claims.
For me, it depends how you define "essential". I couldn't live as I currently do without it, because I use it to earn my money. But I could always make a living a different way.
And I'd miss access if I lost it. But could I live without it? Yup.
Actually, the issue isnt really if theyre "essential" or not, its that people think its essential.
And thats the error, essential isnt the right word, they mean inherent or maybe integral.
That is, people have come to rely on them because they dont know how to do otherwise.
If it was essential, we'd probably die without it.
