im sure it will be a big hit...
Not really surpirsing, as iPod Touch models have always been just the previous iphone without phone bits.
New iPod Touch = iPhone 4 without phone (or high res screen?)
They can't make the iPod too similar to the iPhone in features otherwise people notice how overpriced the iPhones are. I'm sceptical that it'll have the decent screen this time around.
And iPods aren't overpriced????
Personally in a world featoring iPhones I reckon iPods are a bit pointless, voice and data are killer apps for iPods, oh yeah then you have an iPhone... why carry a phone and a pod, waste of pocket.
* Personally I use an alternative all in once device of Finnish origins, haven't needed more than 1 device for years.

Compare the prices for a second-hand iPod Touch vs second-hand iPhone and you will soon realise how overpriced the iPods could be. And there are many advantages to having two separate devices - not least you can watch video/listen to music all day long on the iPod without worrying about draining the battery for that important call you need to make in the evening.
The lines become blurred if you have an iPod and an iPhone, but since I don't have or want an iPhone over an Android or WinMo, simply due to lack of features/locked-in software even before price is taken into account, having an iPod and a smartphone suits me down to the ground.
Id rather have a spare battery that you could swap with the one in the phone without having to turn it off.

i can listen to music solid for 4 hours on my w995....and then the phone will still last me 2 days! *roughly* that is.....so i think an ipod is useless....same with the iphone cack.
But the ipod is. At least, that's what I use mine for. I have a cheap PAYG phone that works for all phone type things fine, but I wanted a small computer that I could use for browsing, email, games, notes, music, sync'd calendar etc. I nearly bought a netbook but the ipod worked out cheaper and more portable.
No point getting the iPhone when I only spend £15 a year on PAYG.
