anyone else think its funny that the picture of the phone has been taken by an iPhone?

The tablet is rumoured to pack 2GB of RAM, a built in webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, a 1280x720 touch screen and be based on NVidia's Tegra 2 platform.

Sounds like a bloody good device... but I wish it ran Ubuntu rather than the inevitable Android.

Damn, here I'll be left with my lowly standard Desire. The one thing that I don't like on this phone is the camera and it looks like the HD will fix that with a 8 mega-pixel camera and a better flash.

just because its 8Mpix doesnt mean it will actually look any better, the pictures will just be larger. Whenever people talk about phone cameras i always say the same thing; if you want to take good pictures buy a camera. The sensors in phones are just too small to take good pictures, the only phones i have seen come close are Sony ones.

As for ubuntu, as far as i know that isnt optimized for ARM instruction set and touchscreen is it?

No, what fixes the camera is taking the back off the phone and pushing the stupid little piece of plastic that it has to look through. This improves images dramatically. I was reading about this on some other forum, but I can't find it now. Try it though, it's incredible.

I just have visions of wanting something tablet like last when I was on a sleeper coach in some remote part of Vietnam/Cambodia, expect of course something running chrome OS in that situation would be fricken useless.

I think you guys are getting wires crossed. The HTC Desire II will run android 2.2 and the Google Tablet will run on Chrome OS. Both are mentioned in the Hexus article.
