Am very keen to see this in action, i think it could be very exciting. Having played a bit with the Boxee interface, it was light years ahead of anything else i've used (in its attempts at least - it was a bit buggy for me).

This also may be the first time that 'Atom' and 'capable' have been used together in a serious manner

Compared to ARM designs Atom is quite capable, and in the SOC mentioned it is joined by variuous PowerVR SGX elements for graphics and video decode. No Intel GMA 3150 in sight.

If this comes at £199 I will be pre-ordering one.

But what the heck convinced them that packaging this up in a "partially submerged cube" design was a good idea?

Is it just me who sees 'social network intergration' as a bad thing?

I don't want anything to do with said 'social' sites.

Looking forward to getting this for my parents Finally something that seems simple enough for them to use (that doesn't require me to build a whole HTPC...)

I do think it's quite eye-catching, although can agree that it could be quite impractical for those who stack systems.

One thought could be that it might be able to decode video better? This is a guess. Lower power draw also? Also i suppose (hopefully) quicker boot. However i have (briefly) installed Boxee onto an Ubuntu netbook some time ago, and it was pretty cool, so the Revo thing certainly seems like an alternative to me.

It wouldnt interest me either, but you can't argue with the ridiculous stats for Facebook growth etc. Maybe you & I are just not that social?

Re: News - Boxee Box to launch in UK in November

This is ridiculous! The Boxee Box is $199 in the US, so why is it £199 in the UK? The last time I checked $1 does not equal £1. The most this should cost is £150. Very disappointed.

From what I've read, the RRP is $229 although Amazon I think is selling at $199

    $229 = £152 ish = £179 ish including VAT. So not bad given history of $ = £ issues!

So I think £199 as a RRP is very reasonable, I assume that some like in USA will sell below RRP

Re: News - Boxee Box to launch in UK in November

I've been tracking this for a while, and I think the design/looks are awesome.

Disappointed with the price, especially with the Apple TV price point, but this will be able to do so much more and will not the Apple politics and restrictions to deal with.

For me one of the key functions of these types of devices must be to hook up with MY media library, this should do that nicely.
