The one thing I don't understand about Tegra is, with so few companies taking an interest, and very few devices featuring the chip, why bother going on to design and make a third version? Let alone a fourth... The first model only appeared in one device that I know of (the Zune) and I know of very few devices using the second iteration of the chip...

Typically these devices take years from chip launch to device launch and have a long lifetime in the market, Snapdragon has been around since 2007 or something, the TI OMAP chips in many current phones similarly IIRC.
