Re: News - OpenOffice.org splits from Oracle

but the people behind OpenOffice.org have decided they don't want to work under the direction of Oracle and are going it alone
    Yay (although not entirely unexpected)

Any chance that the next version will run a bit quicker then?

Re: News - OpenOffice.org splits from Oracle

I hope they let them have the name, would be a shame for them h=to have to reinvent themselves as Open Office is almost a brand name...

Re: News - OpenOffice.org splits from Oracle

I guess it was fairly predictable after the OpenSolaris business... Oracle seem to have total contempt for anything they can't directly monetise (wonder where it leaves VirtualBox, MySQL etc).

I do hope they can retain the title OpenOffice (preferably dropping the silly ".org" suffix) - LibreOffice doesn't exactly trip elegantly off the tongue, and besides, it sounds French.
