All the tablets seem to have these identity issues....how anyone thinks that the heavy ipad is a portable device is beyond me...

Someone will get it right shortly - and they will make a killing. the Galaxy Tab is the best effort I've seen thus far...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

Used one in PC World. It was sluggish beyond belief. FAR FAR slower than my 800mhz Snapdragon Acer Liquid, that cost £200. When Google said "shtop! itsh not ready yhet!" they weren't joking. Galaxy tab was ok, but that runs at the same res as most high end Android phones, so really the OS sees it as a big phone.

Last time I looked into the way Android handles graphics, it was pretty clear that high res was pretty much impossible to do. I'm not being shown wrong yet.

    +1 to that.

Android, I don't understand why so many geeks are getting excited over, its really not a good OS.

if they pulled the tablet from the shelves, why did they hike up the price?

Probably something is the contract they have with Toshiba about always having models in display and for demonstration. Probably nothing in the contract regarding price.

Apparently 999.99 is a place holder price within PCW that discontinued items often get. That price and the unit itself should have been removed from display going by what I've read elsewhere.
