^^ Probably - which is a shame as i'd pay £10 a month for a discounted one in the new year..but £45 is more than my phone contract, so that would be rather insane.

    my complete guesses would be:

Free on £45/month +, with 15gb usage included
    £250 on £25/month, with 10gb usage included
    £499 on £10 a month, with 2gb usage included

I've based them on 24 month contracts - add £5 for the 18 months. Worked out by looking at the subsidy cost and then adding on some profit, and comparing against the current 3g broadband prices.

We'll see how close I am in the coming months tho

SIM only, rolling on contract, 1 month, £7.50 a month for 1GB, who can beat that?

Re: News - Three the latest network to subsidise iPad

Is it just me or does dropping the price have a whole new defintion

Dropping the price to me means going from £599 to £500 for example

    Not

We are dropping the price to £300 plus 12 x £25 = £300 ... oh look its pretty much the same price ...

    GTF!!!!

Well the official prices from Orange are now out..looks like I was way out on the data.

    https://interest.orange.co.uk/default.aspx#seePricing

Totally insane pricing, £25/month with a 1GB limit?

    Thats then :

    £199 for the iPad
    £600 for the contract

    = £799.

Compared to buying it up front..£429 for the ipad and £180 for the equivalent sim only deal from three, with the same included downloads..£609.

In fact, even if you go on Orange's own sim only deal of £15/month with 3gb usage, thats still only £789 for the 24 months..£10 cheaper and with an extra 2gb of usage.

Totally insane pricing if you ask me..I expect 3 to be much more competitive when they announce theirs!

Re: News - Three the latest network to subsidise iPad

Why have data plans jumped in the last 12 months? I started mine over a year ago with three, its £5pcm monthly contract data only, 10GB a month.

I don't know why this has changed, my theory is more smart phones running andriod or other grown up OSs that check things in background constantly all add up. The old HTC thing I had would merrily use well over 2meg a day just on the weather and stocks, this is all before push email and streaming radio.

Supply and demand would be my guess - there's a lot more demand for mobile data than there used to be.

The iPad is the £529 3G version so makes a bit more difference and could be useful for someone who doesn't want to shell out the full price straight away.

True I forgot its the 3g one - but its still mad pricing considering that you can get a better deal on the data, and spread your payments for the ipad via some other means
