A friend of mine has this and one thing I've noticed is apps are often not the same price as they are on iOS - Angry Birds for example costing £3.xx rather than the 59p it cost for my ipod.

I keep saying this...Nokia's problem is they don't stir up people excitement levels any more. I've not been excited by a Nokia phone since about the 3330!

That sounds just like I felt when I had my N96. I spent out the same cost as an iphone but got nothing that felt special or new. Nokia desperately need to switch to meego or something else - Otherwise I'm afraid their smartphone share will continue to drop. People expect smartphones to be easy to use, intuitive and 'shiny'. Symbian is none of these.

I replaced my N96 with an Android phone and I can't see myself returning.

I went from my Nokai E71 to a Desire HD because Nokia offered comparable.

I played with the N8 in a shop the other day. Give Nokia credit, they still make a solid feeling phone. It felt much stronger and durable than my Desire HD. Software didn't have the smoothness of Android and the phone was sluggish compared to my Desire HD.

This phone with Android would be a big hit...

No chance, the hardware is way down on your Desire HD. It would still be a sluggish but well built phone on any OS as it's underspecced cpu wise compared to todays offerings. Rather like Nokia themselves who have been rather slow to get this whole smartphone market and grab it by the scruff of the neck and produce some real desireable phones...

Ask his wallet how it feels though. Oh, and you wouldn't want to drop a Desire HD...

(I'm happy with my Wildfire, the Desire does not feel like twice the phone despite being twice the price: quality issues and a not-much-better camera, let alone that horrendous latch on the Z)

True, but nokia's image is of decent but uninspiring phones, and has been for years. Once they innovated, now they just say Baaa! My personal opinion is they need some way out wacky but useable phones to reverse the trend. I know they still sell in bucketloads, but in bucketloads to people who are quite staid. Staid people don't make a song and dance about how great their phone is, tell their mates, wifes, lovers and make a buzz happen. HTC have made their phones desireable (hahahahah) and so what if people drop them and break them? Majority are on contract with insurance, HTC are covered.
I'm already starting to hear murmers from people how the iphone 4 will be there last as they're getting too common and boring...
