    I love Google Chrome!

Still some lack of support from Sky with their TV Guide and Egg with their Money Manager (ActiveX) but other than that it is pretty much fit for purpose.

    Weee Chrome 8 :-)

Chrome is my favourite now too, I keep FF and IE for some things that don't work or certain FF addons, but 95% is Chrome, faster and I like the minimal UI, especially on small screens.

    Is Chrome faster than Firefox?

My Firefox just hogs memory and is slow to start up.

Considerably faster than Firefox. Opening a first instance of the browser is almost instantaneous, even on an old laptop. Pages load, render, and scroll much smoother than Firefox as well. And far less vertical space is wasted on bars and buttons and nonsense like that.

Chrome's way faster than FF (tested on Ubuntu and Windows XP), and it's also faster than IE8 too.

I tend to use Chrome/FF about 50/50 these days. Chrome's great for when I'm impatient and the iGoogle integration is nice, FF has all the AdBlock+/NoScript stuff, so it's better for browsing those annoying sites where there's more ads than content. I also prefer FF's handling of bookmarks, but I'll acknowledge that there's something to be said for Chrome's "minimalist" interface.

Oh, and Chrome v's FF on a netbook - no contest - I hardly use FF at all now, Chrome is just so much nicer on that kind of low powered hardware, (Meego 1.1 and Ubuntu 10.10UNR used).

Good call from Hexus - I got 8.0.552.215-r67652 pushed out to my Ubuntu 10.04 system about five minutes ago.

Don't think I'll abandon FF either - I'm still finding sites that just plain don't work (or work consistently) with Chrome, but work fine with FF. And yes, I realise that this is probably the result of poor programming by the websites in question.

Really not that keen on IE these days - only really use it for those idiots who tailor their sites for it. FF's nicer to use than Chrome, but slower (while still being faster than IE) so it's a good compromise in my experience.

The fact that I've got some nice themes installed on my various FF installations doesn't hurt any neither ...

Another reason for people to pick up Chrome - It's been optimised for use with Google products, Analytics, Docs, Webmaster Tools etc. They all load/navigate noticeably faster compared with FF3.x on the four systems I've tried.

Also the built in Code viewer (inspect element) is brilliant for anyone learning HTML, it's really intuitive, and imo easily rivals the FireBug plug in for FF.

Slightly off topic - I think the Chromium (open source Chrome) browser is also making great advances and is well worth a look for the F/OSS crowd!

Yeah, I just use Chromium on Linux. It's the same as Chrome, only it's maintained by your distro, and it comes without the dial-home bits.
