IF this does happen and I hope it does then I can't see any need for a landline. Even more
so if they make 0845 and 0870 numbers the same cost on mobile as landlines.

Be nice not to have to have a landline but in real terms the mobile network in the UK couldn't handle all the added data traffic if too many more people use just their mobiles for everything.

I need a land line... for ADSL

I use VoIP for my actual 0800 calls and the rest is on my mobile.

When you are actually old enough to work full time and own something as envolved as a property that requires a lot of day-time calls to 08xx numbers, you will be very very pleased that Ofcom are acting on this. And it will happen.

It is easy to point to the death of the landline providers and people have been doing it for years. But don't write them off too soon, the markets are worth millions and they won't give them up easily. (In fact the UK penetration for landlines has held up over the last few years) A scandinavian landline company has recently launched landline packages that offer the low-rate national call costs to mobiles. Expect ours to follow suit before they give up on landlines.

Dude this is the second thread you have resurected, a worthless post that isn't helping anyone, sorry to be so "forward" but it is really annoying.
