Been keeping my eye on these speakers, they look like a decent set but they do seem a tad overpriced. There are a lot of speakers between 100 and 200, if you include active reference monitors there is a lot of choice so i don't think they'll be capturing the music enthusiast, but for someone who wants something that's decent at everything they could work
It's a shame the 3d doesn't seem to sparkle, especially as I imagine this is adding to the price considerably. There is a setting on X-fi cards called cmss which will do a similar job quite well, however it has the added benefit of actually being able to handle the surround sound output (in games you actually need to set speakers to 4 or 5.1), calculate 3d effects from that and down mix it to stereo.
Generating 3d effects on a stereo set from a stereo source has a fundamental flaw really.
Still... they look good!
Overpriced and from a company with zero track record for audio products.
The review pretty much backs up my initial thoughts.
Yeah i was a bit shocked when you said the price!
Seems odd you find that the bass is overshadowed by mids as a bad point. Complete lack of mid frequencies is common in PC Audio speakers which is often compensated by extreme amounts of bass. I find this the most displeasing and quite frankly insulting type of soundscape for any kind of music so a speaker which has focussed on balancing it out all round should win mega point in my book.
For that price much better of buying and amp and some bookshelf speakers, which will sound superior to any PC speakers.
