Meh, they should have tried Dragon Age. Now there was an absurdly buggy game.

Personally I never had any issues with Black Op's, but saying that there has been loads of people who have.
It's true what the article says - "The PS3 and PC gaming community appearing to be used as game testers for an extended period after a game’s release, yet being asked to pay for the privilege." This is a very good point that needs to be addressed and i am happy to see that someone is up to the challenge of addressing it.

How would they prove the game isn't fit for purpose? It's not like they have paid for a game and received a toaster.
Only a Judge can decide if the item is/isn't fit for purpose.
If you buy a toaster and it doesn't toast bread then it's not fit for purpose - you don't need to take it to a judge to prove that.
If you buy a computer game and it inherently doesn't provide entertainment or whatever it's advertised to provide then it's not fit for purpose and should be returned to the retailer who sold it. Sure, if they refuse to refund you then you can take the retailer to court and fight your case, but unless you bought direct then Activision didn't sell you the game.
It was a highly defective product at launch for me, that's for sure - crashes galore and unplayable framerates. It's 99% fine now in my case, but it's certainly left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
It's a Steam game. Steam transcends UK law.
I agree with the general point you're making, and I wish they would follow your approach, but it's not that easy.
Ah I didn't realise that. Yes, Steam as a service to provide access to games gets around the retail laws so you'd have to go after the developer/supplier to Steam.
We are talking about Activision, i.e. EA's bro. Look at MW2 , hackers running rampant. IW wanted to release a patch but Activision didnt want to pay.
Has been absolutely fine for me from Launch day (360 though), other players have complained in game about connection issues but never seen any.
Star Trek Online though, that was different, sit down at the end of a long day, get ready to play, log in, check messages and... Shard closed come back in 9 hours. It did improve after a few months and is much better.
I never had any problems with Black Ops to be honest - no bugs/framerate issues etc..this is the PS3 version.
I doubt this action group will get anything resolved other than maybe a few patch releases? At least they are making themselves heard I guess..
I think making a formal complaint about any game is taking things abit too far, I mean there is almost always a demo version you can try out and so many reviews on the game which most people read before buying..
I wouldnt say the ps3 version of black ops is buggy, although i did find it impossible to join a game online or maintain a connection, and this was even with an open NAT, all my other games played fine...I guess thats more of an issue with their servers rather than with the game itself...I am now playing it on PC and so far so good...although I'm nowhere near as good with the mouse and keyboard lol
