Aaah I get it. Someone at hexus forgot to log off and the cleaners are posting this rubbish.

Tablets are a fad but you don't get sweary bob to write articles about it.

Actually, I think it's quite nice to hear a "human" voiced article on Hexus. It'd get tiresome if all the content was like this, but as an occasional alternative viewpoint I quite like it

Looking forward to hearing more from you, Divisive...

Yup, it's good not just reading press releases with words changed.*

PS, I understand the feelings about tablets and whether they should make calls or not, but for me, all the technology is in the OS and presumably the hardware, so why not just leave it in? That way, if your smartphone runs out of battery (which they frequently do... such as myself on a long bus trip with a load of kids last summer) you've got a backup.

You wouldn't buy it because of the phone and the chances are you'd seldom, if ever use it, but in my eyes, there's zero reason not to keep the basic phone-calling technology...

    * Edit: that comes across as a thinly veiled dig, and it's not intended like that. If you're to report on releases and so on, you've not got an awful lot of choice these days.

    Good read,

not a fan of tablets, paying more for less in my eyes, laptops are portable enough and more powerful, and more efficient to use in regards to say typing on a decent sized qwerty keyboard.

you mentioned in the article keeping one near or on the sofa for when the wife comes in, i wonder how strong these things are in such a situation if she was to sit on it.

    Table = Latest tech

    Latest tech = Hot

Apple + Hot = Cool to the masses

Once every man and his dog has one with more companies releasing more versions the table as tech will cool off to any other tech in the market. Its just another one of these fads that has its roots well inbedded in SciFi history. Anyone remember tables from Star Trek, total ultra cool item that we all wanted instead of our hunking great DX100 sized PCs when we were kids.

With tables and smart phones dreams and reality have clashed so its a more prominent dream realised, so a stronger reaction in the market.

Im not usually one to point out spelling/grammar (as im not particualy great with it myself) but you are aware they are called tablets not tables, or was this done deliberately as a joke?

Either way i had a giggle

Tablets.... I just don't see the need myself, an ultra portable laptop will always be more useful for lounging on sofa surfing, and things like the PSP2 or 3DS nintendo will always win the one up from a mobile phone for gaming.

The iPad is just too big to be more portable than a laptop.

    is this guy for real?

what a painful read - without a doubt, the most ridiculous article i have ever seen on hexus
