Hmm - if this was politics, that would mean it's a dead cert...

HP should have tried to licence it up front, when they bought it, not after binning it.

Why should anyone buy cast-offs so comprehensively rubbished by the owner?

Because the Korean governement has urged Samsung to create their own OS since Google bought Android as Samsung's success is very important to Korean trade and they're worried about the direction Android is heading in.
Plus, WebOS isn't actually that bad. It's not rubbish, just very buggy. Even this early on after the firesale some of the custom versions of WebOS Kernels etc. can make the Touchpad fly like nothing seen before! It just seems HP's programmers were a bit lacking.

Never tried webOS till I got a touchpad but I have to agree it is not actually that bad. Once certain patches are installed the performance is greatly improved. I havent actually had any errors or the tablet freezing up whilst in use. One thing that needs to be improved though is the cold boot time, it is far too long.
