Really depressing. Europe seems to be happily falling into the American pattern of competition and progress being stifled by patent bullies and patent trolls. Apple being the former in this case.

I really do think that Apple is beginning to make itself look incredibly smug and stupid with each move it's making...

NO APPLE, NO. Seriously think Apple funds the whole patent system to ensure it does well, all the bull from Apple is getting stupid and tiresome.

I dont see how they can come to the conclusion that because one of the people was a former employee many many moons ago that android was built by Apple... STUPID!! in that sense then surely everyone made everything as they are always switching companies....

HTC should be winning, they have a good amount of patents now after acquiring that 3d firm and their software interface looks nothing like Apples, worst case is htc should just say... WE COPIED MICROSOFT SORRY SORRY SORRY, and pay MS £5 extra atleast MS will work with companies.

Surely something should be done about this as Apple is trying to prevent competition by making BS claims its so annoying.

Second that, but also the German courts need a reality check. Apple can not own the patent on a tablet design. Its a mathematical shape, its like Apple actually wanting a stop the sale of real Apples (aka fruit)

Think the German courts have lost the plot. We knew Apple had lost the plot...

Just to clarify, you're referring to the default icons for things like email? Which (zomg) look like an envelope?

    Apple are far worse:

Icons can hardly be original by definition. You expect the icon for RSS feeds to be an RSS icon, a browser to be a world, and so on...

Re: News - Apple forces Samsung to remove Galaxy Tab 7.7 from IFA

It`d be nice if Apple would fight other companies with innovation instead of constant legal threats.

When the Iphone came out it pushed the mobile phone market forward big time but since then Android and WM7 have overtaken it in functionality.
Apple may have created the first mass produced tablet but again android are running with the design and adding cool stuff. WM8 looks like its going to take things another step on.
