Well, that's that then as far as I am concerned.
If I have to pay a subscription to get anti-cheat measures, they can take a long running jump...

So...a lot of stuff then. Does this guy know what day of the week it is by any chance? Because he clearly knows naff all else.A lot of that stuff can be done through Elite that we can review...Then we have tools to report player stuff in game that players can use, and we’ll have entire teams monitoring and taking actions on those. That’s new for us. A lot of that stuff, the monitoring stuff
Tools to report player stuff in game that players can use...
If this is kind of quality we can expect from MW3, from its "Creative strategist", then I am very very worried! I'd half expect the AI to start walking round licking windows!

I think the subscription is an optional extra, you still get the main features, some people will just choose to pay through the nose for things which, on pc, used to be free and/or community driven through mods. Link i for one don't want to pay the price of a full game for the extra content, i will play mw3 and bf3
You all do realise there is a FREE version of Elite which records all your stats and the like?
This will include the reporting features said in the article. As long as they can see your stat's they can see if your cheating or not. For example the hacked golden weapons and playercards on black ops. These will show on elite and when your stat's don't match they can ban.
The article does not make this very clear with it's first sentence. Either that or everyone is jumping on the let's bash COD bandwagon again.
@Merson thats what i was getting at with the Link, there is a free scaled down version and a premium subscription service that gives you extra such as DLC every month.
^^ exactly
Well, I just read the entire source article at gamespy...
and it does sound very much like if you do not subscribe to the "Elite" service, then the only protection you will get is VAC which they state did not work in MW2....and is why they are using elite now...

i read that article before i read the snippet here on Hexus but id did not come to the same conclusion as yourself. The Elite service is for everyone, either Elite Free or Elite Premium
And on the COD Elite pages under free services, there is not a single mention of anti-cheat.......

It isn't mentioned on the Premium section either...
Yet they are making a song an dance about it...
So, if you had to draw a conclusion....based on the info provided, would you guess that the anti-cheat feature is in the free services or not?
Seems a tad odd to me that it isn't on the list....like it's that one feature they are not going to officially slap PREMIUM on until the majority of the pre-orders are in.

i dont think i would draw that conclusion, bowling said the new measures are part of Elite, which to me says it is a standard feature regardless of your subscription level.
How could you provide anti cheat measures to some users and not others when they all play on the same servers that will use the same detection methods.
If cheat detection was available to subscription only then anyone wanting to cheat wouldn't subscribe and it would defeat the object of the cheat detection system.
Surely that is logical, not that you could accuse Activision of being logical per say
It seems like the way DICE used to manage the BF2 servers by looking at player stats and anything that didnt match up *(i.e. being signed up for a day and being max rank with 100 kills) would result in a stats reset or account ban
