Pre-Ordered from Game last night as Shopto was out of stock, just changed my order to Shopto as its cheaper and don't need the collectors edition rubbish.
Their currently raging (get it?) over at RockPaperShotgun about bonus pre-order stuff in the game lol.
I don't blame them either. Retailer exclusive content does not benefit the customer (you're fighting over virtually meaningless content instead of prices), and can harm releases.
When SupCom 2 was released, there were retailer exclusive maps. For a PC game that didn't have a vast amount of maps in the first place, and being one without an editor, it really left a bitter taste. GPG eventually released the maps for all, and for free, but left a pretty cheesed off community in the meantime.
I'm a sucker for extras but not at the expense of the game. Retailer exclusives are not a practice I approve of.
Meh. I'm missing out on all this exclusive content while waiting for Bulldzoer so I can build a new rig. Might as well wait to buy the games, it'll be cheaper - at the expense of pre order bonuses.
*shrugs* pre-order items don't interest me - if the game is worth it then it'll be worth it without them - I'm not going to buy a game which is only made fun by the addition of something that isn't included.
Tbh I'm not fussed either about the pre-order stuff, the way I look at it is your getting something extra for pre-ordering the game that you should be pre-ordering anyway, if adding the bonus stuff gets them a couple of extra pre-orders then so be it they are their to make money after all.
Plus theirs nothing exclusive about the Rage pre-order content, order before the 7 Oct and you get it, order after and you don't simple as, Game do the Collectors Pack but thats a making off DVD and comics, nothing different in game then anywhere else.
I switched to standard edition, pre ordered, game has arrived, now how do I get the free upgrade? Or is this article just plain wrong?
So what is is the price difference between the two?
