    Or you can just plug the device into your computer and it'll automatically do all the above steps (including back ups) with prompts for you to click OK.

    Didn't just work for me, ios5 is on, but apps are gone and usage is all wrong:



    resyncing doesn't upload apps, though they are all there in itunes.

    Not being funny but 4.x to 5.x is a major upgrade, back up your phone, wipe the phone, then install iOS5 and then set it back up...

    That seems to be the easiest way to do it.. It takes a lot longer but I didn't encounter a single error.

    Only took a little over 2 hours to get it all done, music and apps transferred over and everything set up properly.

    I hope my 4S arrives early on tomorrow to get it all set up early on
