Huge increase in the screen resolution looks good - not so sure that retaining the 4:3 aspect ratio is a good idea. But even with the increased pixels, I'm guessing that the quad-core processor will make this quite the zippy beast.
What's the betting though that if Apple have changed the dock connector that there's going to be a lot of grumbling - especially if the iPhone5 uses the current one too. I'm guessing though that 'phone5 and 'pad3 will use the same cabling - otherwise it'd be a rare misstep for Apple imho.
Cant wait for it , esp the resolution of the thing.
i do belive that android is the future, when you look on actual pricing of honeycomb devices, they are verry tempting and almost everyone can afforrd them now, archos just released 8" honeycomb tablet for under £200 at dixons
the changing of connector is going to make them very unpopular, although i guess its probably for a reason besides making people buy new peripherals (as, to be fair to apple they are not too bad for this) such as helping to reduce the overall size of the device?
My dad bought a 10" Archos tablet for £199 from Tesco (they were cheaper in Phones 4U at £150 but never seemed to have stock) but didn't like the build quality, took it back and ended up with a smaller 7" Samsung galaxy tab (16gb with an additional 16gb mem card included) for £220 from Asda (again, these were cheaper in Tesco but couldn't seem to find stock). tbh, I'm tempted to get one of these myself, the build quality is far better than the Archos and the size difference between the two isn't as much of an issue as I first thought it would be.Originally Posted by wzmudzki
Hmm, your reasoning behind those comments have escaped me - care to indulge my curiosity and explain?
A non-techie of my acquaintance explained it best - we're so used to seeing "widescreen" tv's/monitor's etc that a traditional (4:3 or 3:4) a.r. just looks "cut off". Personally speaking, I like that a "widescreen" device, when turned, gives you more of a page visible. Very handy for manuals, or the "wonderful" web site designs that IBM use for their technical info. I also remember seeing some article that stated that one of the key drivers for moving to 16:10 for computer displays were that these worked better for docs and spreadsheets. Granted not something you're likely to do a lot of on a tablet (at least if you don't have a separate keyboard).
I think the article must have been written by a very strange person indeed; documents, for instance - what's the most common layout for, say, a letter or a contract or something like that? A4 portrait. Widescreen is awful for that. It may be somewhat better theoretically for spreadsheets and Gantt charts and so forth, but the majority of laptop screens these days seem to be shipping at useless telly resolutions anyway (1366x768? Really? On a business laptop?). I have to get machines with Full HD screens just to make them usable in our environment.
4:3 or better still 3:4 is more akin to paper sizes. Hence most people are most used to using that format for reading.
I'm actually reading/ typing this on an iPad right now and agree the 3:4 ration is just right. A longer tablet with a widescreen would be unbalanced in the hand.

looking forward for it
Better camera as well presumably so it follows on with the normal apple way of doing things?
If the chipset is also new I'd guess at it being lighter as well, instead of upping the battery life they keep it a ~9 hours and reduce battery size in line with the savings of the new chipset.
Maybe apple will reinvent the wheel and put one of those ultra new "game changing " microSD slots in it never happen as that'll ruin there ability to charge stupid amounts for simply increasing storage
