I still think bing is pretty poor to be honest.

Agree with Jay, just searching information that's on Microsoft's website is still better with Google.
Don't know if it is just me or not. I found that in recent years it is more difficult to search for information on Google, probably due to aggressive SEO activities, commercial products very often take over the first page of the search results. Sometimes it is good to use a different search engine just to get a second opinion.
Likewise, and I find doing a search on Google with "site:mcafee.com" always returns more/better information than McAfee's own search.
Like to use other search engines from time to time - try Wolfram Alpha occasionally because the result can be informative in ways you wouldn't imagine. E.g. Bing ranks as 27th most popular website, Google is 1st.
I'm getting bad vibes with what FireFox are doing ATM.
@freedomzero: AdBlock is helpful for FFox or Chrome. I think you can use it to block certain div boxes (like sponsored links) from appearing site-wide.
Mozilla might be annoyed with Google for releasing chrome but Changing to bing smacks of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
For some reason best known only to the gods of computing, my Windows Firefox install seems to have unilaterally decided that I now want a default search of Yahoo! Thankfully, that's not my main machine, even so though, I'm going to have to put a few minutes aside to reroute it back to Google.
Speaking of Firefox annoyances - I really wish there was a way (at least one I can find) to persuade the mobile version (in my case on an Android tablet) to use google.co.uk for searches in preference to google.com.
Another reason for me to keep using chrome. Come on Mozilla, what are you guys doing?
Aye you've probably put your finger on it - there was a recent Java upgrade, but I'm usually VERY careful to deselect those "change your default search engine" / "change your home page to" options. But it's likely that either one slipped through, or else Oracle ( ) hid the option in the updater.
