The cheapest deal that offers 1GB of data is £56 per month!!!!!
Stupid Vodaphone and their stupid expensive deals....
Going to wait for the next windows mobile generation before I take a serious look. IMO it is still lagging behind the Droid army for features at the minute, so I don't see it as a viable alternate.
Google/Droid integration with G+, photos, Contacts, Calendar, Mail, Books, Documents, Navigation, Apps, Games, Movies, Music, Talk is pretty awesome and is only going to get better.
My money is still on Google giving me what I want and more for the foreseeable future.
How Much!?
They've missed the mark here, its quite possibly a very nice little package, but far too expensive.
I'm also sick to death of phones costing £400....
Would have thought they would have made the handsets cheaper to get back in the market....

iPhone 4s works out cheaper than this >.>
Firstly I am in no way connected or affiliated to them - but Dialaphone has the Nokia Lumia 800 for free on a £26/month contract with 400 mins/month, unlimited texts and 250mb data (with free delivery). I'm pretty sure that kicks the bejeesus out of the cheapest offer in this Vodaphone list.
Vodafone are certainly demonstrating they are guilty of hubris now with these kind of prices. You can bet they also put their own awful firmware on the Lumia 800 too.
Nokia needs to cut its price now.. or as stated by Infinite, they are going to get blitzed by the cheaper iPhone and Android phones deals.
How about you offer it for £26 a month, with 600 minutes, 250Mb data and unlimited text, with an upfront cost of £50-100, that's where the pricing should be at.
Too expensive considering the hardware imo - lack of a metal chassis really puts it down when compared to HTC's best offering (titan), although it doesn look pretty.
Specs are fine - part of the joy of Windows Phone 7 is that it doesn't need a dual core CPU to run properly
Those contracts fail a little bit for the two cheapest from the 12 month and three cheapest from the 18 month. There's no point in buying the cheapest contract from the 12 month as it works out the same price as the second-cheapest but with less stuff and having to pay more up front. And there's no point buying the two cheapest contracts from the 18 month because it works out more expensive than buying the third cheapest contract, with less stuff, and having to pay more up front.
12month £36/month over contract length: £631. £41/month: £631.
18month £31/month over contract length: £757. £36/month: £747. £41/month: £738.
Pricing fail.
Am I alone in buying phones unlocked and free of contracts?
I'd much rather pay £450 and get the phone and have the freedom to cancel my contract and move to another network if my situation changes or Vodafone make a change I dislike. I also prefer to use Pay As You Go(PAYG) SIM cards in other countries, partly because they are cheaper and partly to prevent being bothered by people I don't want to call me when I'm overseas.
12, 18 and 24 month contracts restrict me too much for my liking.
I'm going down that route. I brought my current LG win 7 phone brand new for cheap money, and changes my contact from a £40 monthly cost to a rolling 1 month £15 one. Much more flexible and the ability to use whatever phone I want.
The Nokia Lumia 800 is £390 SIM Free: http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...4/p116204.aspx
That seems reasonable, although £330-£350 would be amazing value for a SIM Free smartphone.
It's just too easy to walk into a phone store and get it SIM and device at the same time, plus after all with an expensive contract you're getting a "free" phone. Take the SGSII - a lot of folks (me included) will baulk at paying £400-500 for a SIM free, but are quite happy to pony up £35 per month for 24 months. I know, I really need to do the sums next time - especially when I switch (SGSIII?) next year.
One additional advantage - mainly for Android, but I'm not convinced that WP7 won't suffer the same way - is that a SIM free phone is carrier-"improvement" free too, so none of those "helpful" apps that the carriers like to add.
I clicked through that link and couldn't see a SIM Free, even tried the "SIM Free" section and no sign on the 800.
Something weird I've noticed about the 800 - I was in the local Sainsbury's yesterday and pretty much all of the "OK" type mags were carrying the 800 on the front cover. Does this make the 800 a fashionable device?
I'd get the Lumia 800 for £330-350 sim free. It's just a matter time really, since its not going to sell at its current price.
Nokia need to open their eyes and realise its 2011, not 2006!
