Always believed this architecture was designed with servers in mind, and should bring AMD some much needed high margin revenue. Also, regarding the desktop, it looks like it will be much better a couple of years down the line...
It's so nice to see that Bulldozer is not completely useless after all. We really need some more competitions in the CPU market.
if a server OS can show bulldozers srengths - above and beyond anything intel can offer then we all know the market it was aimed for .
Is that really 8 modules on a single slice of silicon? or is it a multi-chip design, with 2 four module dies stuck on a single substrate? My understand was it was going to be the latter, but I'd be delighted to AMD proved me wrong (although I'd almost be gobsmacked given the yield issues they appear to be having...)
the 4200 series chips based on the C32 two-socket design will make for an excellent 16x core workstation, and pretty cheaply too!
5820k / 16GB DDR4 2400 / MSI X99 SLI Plus / Asus Strix Vega64 / AOC 32"
AFAIK it's multi-chip like Magny-Cours/Core 2 Quad/etc.
