Re: News - Hasbro sues ASUS and its Transformer Prime tablet

Had they called it the Transformer Super|Plus|Pro etc then it would look more generic, but Prime isn't a very common superlative applied to computing products, and then linked with the word Transformer it's rather obvious.

Asus will probably lose this one, and probably deserve to this time (rare in these kind of cases!).

"Cray Prime" springs to mind as the only other use of the word "Prime" in a computing product (this is the name for Cray's service offering, in case anyone's interested).

Agree on both counts - maybe we should start a book on what the replacement name's going to be - "Transformer X4" gets my vote.

Oh, and while Hasbro are borrowing Apple's writ-o-matic, how about sending writs heading towards the folks behind the movies - I know they were supposed to be kids films, but that no excuse for acting that bad.

Your suggestions make it sound like a ladies' monthly curse-type product. I for one wouldn't buy a Transformer Super-Plus...

Re: News - Hasbro sues ASUS and its Transformer Prime tablet

Whilst i think this is a bit silly, i dont agree with Steve here. Hasbro have every right to be peed off, the whole thing is clearly grabbing onto the coat tails of the recent transformer success.
Its gashtastic but in comparison to some of the insane patent law cases, its pretty obvious.

You have it the wrong way round Apple are suing Aunt Bessie for the use of the name, as of course apple inc existed before pies were invented they even existed before the fruit. So they shall be suing god next for the use of the name apple in the best seller book called 'the bible'

I give it 6 months until this actually happens...

Getting pretty fed up of all of this suing and counter-suing.

FAO all the big companies, grow up.

Re: News - Hasbro sues ASUS and its Transformer Prime tablet

I'm a little surprised that no one mentioned the code name for the latest Nexus. Were rumors that it was going to be called the Nexus Prime.

For me the name of the Transformer says it all, its the only real contender verses the iPad given its versatility compared with any other tablets on the market

This law suite seems an awful lot like Bethesda vs Mojang over the use of the word Scrolls.
For Bethesda its just been a waste of money as the judge ruled in favor of Mojang
