"Androids all look the same...so we're totally going to rip them off" - RIM's CEO (well, mostly)
I think one of the issues is they've forgotten what they do well and I mean really well.
I don't think they have, i just think what they do well is an outdated concept now and people expect more than what the BB OS has to offer. I don't think they had much choice but to copy iOS/Android to be quite honest, the problem with it, assuming they are successful, i suspect users (or people who prefer to use) of the older style BB phones will be completely left behind and they risk losing a share of the market who have probably remained loyal.
If you're company has its own BB mail server yeah for sure, otherwise i think what happened a last year is proof of the contrary.
I will concede that was a one off kinda situation but it did prove a rather massive point of failure in the BB infrastructure.
I have both a blackberry and an android, and i have used both for gmail/exchange/hotmail. Exchange experience in android is slightly sub-par as it doesnt properly sort out linebreaks etc however other than than, i preferred android.
Looks great, QNX is awesome on the playbook and I think it will translate well to a mobile phone type device.
"traditional android design"? I expect better from hexus tbh, even forgetting that android is a software platform and has nothing to do with hardware design, most windows or "other" devices have adopted this style also. It's simply modern/more conformative, has nothign to do with Android.
I'm getting more and more excited about this device - if they stick to their promises then it's looking very likely this will be my next phone. I am fed up of my windows phone being limited by "bing", and love QNX..so if this is as good as it sounds I would be buying it mid contract at rrp.

backing the wrong horse ! should have gone to windows mango, Android needs lots of processing power to run fast and it eats batterys, (sensation Xe 1.5 dual) and gets bloody hot. Windows needs only 1 processor, runs just as fast and is easy to use. IT WILL out sell Android in two years once Android customers get fed up with its crap OS and Apps that "do or dont" work.
Am I right that people who still want the traditional BB 'screen-and-keyboard' handset will still be able to buy the Curve/Bold? If so, they just seem to be adding an extra form factor, rather than abondoning their roots...
