So pretty much everything that everyone predicted was right? what happened to the old Apple that could keep things under wraps?

Not quite enough for me to upgrade my ipad2.
I'm sure the screen will be killer, but other than that, updated processor and cameras don't interest me enough to sell current one and add funds for new one.
Wonder how many others (bar Apple fanboys of course!) out there feel the same???

Hmm, well at least this means price cuts for all other tablets in time. By the way, I noticed on apple website they are just calling it "the next iPad" not the iPad 3 (yet).
I'll probably be going for Windows 8/Android 4 tablet made by Samsung or HTC later in the year, though if the Blackberry Playbook crashes in price (eg fire sale price), I may be tempted to pick one up.
The name wasn't entirely expected until very late, as there was the talk of ipad 3, or 2s etc. That and the Soc was expected to be called the A6
Odd naming of the soc though A5x, is it still based off cortex A9 cores ? i'd guess so else they would of gone with the A6 name. It is essentially double everything in the A5 ? quad vs dual cpu and gpu ?
Still made by samsung ? that surprises me with all the hype of them ditching sammie for tsmc, guess the 28nm process isnt up to scratch just yet, looks like a big chip that is going to run hot if they had to fit a heat spreader to it
unless they mean graphics performance I doubt very much its 4x the speed of a tegra 3.
Funny to see apple the once trend setter playing catch up though.
Whilst the processor is more powerful, I think the actual experience will not be noticably faster. I think the resolution will hinder the performance a bit - but I think it will look great!
I can safely say I will not be getting one though, I can't see myself paying that much for a tablet (I got a Touchpad in the firesale) as all I use one for is browsing and watching a view movies on the go.
More details of the hardware:

So it is a dual core CPU with a quad core GPU. It seems a doubled up version of the GPU in the iPad2 which had an MP2 dual core GPU.
The GPU looks similar to the one in the Sony PS Vita although it does have a quad core CPU IIRC.

Still a bit poor in the camera department but at least in line with Android tablets..
Hmm, have an ipad1, and wanted increased res at the time of ipad2.
Now though, I use the 7" Andriod Elf more, so was hoping for a 7" ipad...
still not enough to tempt me....sorry Apple!
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
oh yea another iPad, just what the world needs! Dont use the iPad2 I have from work, don't use the iPhone 4s either, gave the iPhone 3Gs to the missus, sold the Mac Mini and the MacBook Pro......I would say I don't like Apple but I still use the MacBook Air.
I wish I'd just looked up the tech spec sheet as opposed to watching the conference, put me to sleep.
With the increase in device size and weight, with the only feature of note the Retina screen, I can't help but feel 'last gen', I'm expecting Samsung or another Android provider to offer something more appealing pretty soon, with wacom digitizers, padfones etc, I'm far more excited.
