    Wireless Problem

Hi guys, just got my laptop yesterday and its great to sit in the garden and surf the net Ive just one little niggle tho, which i dont think is a problem with my laptop, but to do with my new broadband router! Its a Linksys WRT54G, when i turn on the laptop i can connect to the network absolutly fine (ie, it comes up with "connected to xxx signal strength excellent") but i cant cnnect to the internet, the way i get around it is disabling my wireless nic, then re-enabling it, when i do that it connects to the network AND i get a thing in my Network Connections window as a "Internet Gateway", Anyone ever had this problem before?

    Cheers guys,

    Craig

Hmm thats weird - not seen that problem before.

Is your router enabled for DHCP - this way as soon as you connect to it it should issue you an ip address and the relvant network settings (dns / default gateway etc) and then you should be good to go.

Do you statically assign your laptop an ip address?

    any firewall software running?

    Thanks for the help

The way i got around it was to create a wireless bridge (i dont exactly know what that means mind you) and now it works spot on
