Android for me. It was good on my old X10 and even better on my new Galaxy note. Personally for me its the customisation that wins it for me - Don't like the launcher - install another - don't like the sms app - install another. I don't believe any other platform allows that level of customisation (correct me if i'm wrong). I also like the fact that anyone can create an app store and you aren't forced to go via google for your apps. I'd also like to say custom roms but i'm never brave enough to risk my phones!

I'm a fan of my Samsung Galaxy S2 (with Android 4.0), however I still dont think that the interface and overall consistency is as polished as iOS (5).

I have a Galaxy Note and prefer Android 4.0 ICS, which has just been released in the UK and downloaded this morning. However, I'm not impressed with Samsung's TouchWiz skin over the much better stock ICS look! Hurry up Cyanogenmod!

HTC Sensation for me - Android 4.0. Although I'm a huge Windows fan, I haven't had a chance to work/use/play with a Windows Phone.

I loved symbian Belle fp1, as the customisation is very good, 3d shell is impressive, but as its being phased out will probably go Windows phone, whenever pure view is released for it

Android for me (in my case Galaxy SIII, running TouchWiz'd ICS - although I'd much prefer "raw" ICS).

If we're using PR or STV (rather than first-past-the-post voting) and I couldn't have Android, then Windows Phone would be the next best choice for me, then iOS and finally Blackberry.

My ideal midrange phone (because I'd argue that my SIII is top-end) would probably be a combination of the top three choices. So that'd be a Lumia 800 (which I think is an attractive looking phone) running Android (because I want that tweakability), but with iOS's huge app store and best-of-class OS update mechanism.

Now, if you were asking about tablets, then that's easy. Android or Windows - with a slight preference for a Windows8-powered device. Playbook is a non-starter for me, and I really can't see what the big deal with iPads are (I much prefer a "lesser", but far less restricted, Asus Transformer).

Anyone going to say they prefer Symbian?

Android for me, a friend of mine is a Microsoft Student Representative so has been trying to convert me using his Nokia Lumia 800, at least I think that's what it is. There are some nice features to Windows Phone 7 like the barcode reader being part of the stock camera app, but then we also found you couldn't dismiss all your notifications at once and text messages create multiple notifications instead of just one. My friend spent about two minutes dismissing notifications after I *ahem* demonstrated this bug to him. There was also no way I could find to send an image over bluetooth, and the phone was missing wifi or USB tethering. This could just be because the platform is immature.

As for Android, it's had enough development time to be pretty darned good all round. Unfortunately my old Samsung Galaxy S has died twice now while I've tried to apply updates to ICS (weird bugs like losing the modem driver and then going into infinite reboot loops) so I guess I'll need a new phone, Galaxy Note or Galaxy Nexus I reckon. /ramble

Windows easy. Has everything I need and is cheaper. Much cheaper, thats a good thing.

When I'm using Andriod something is always slow or cludgy, but the web on the Nexus is quite superb, but the battery life is far too poor.

When using iPhone 4 its a fragile poc, nothing works consistantly, the UI is never how you expect accross apps.

Windows Phone here. First a HTC 7 Trophy, now a Lumia 710 and in the autumn (likely) a Nokia PureLambda or PurePhi (code names, presumed to be Pureview WP8 handsets, with PureLambda expected to be the top-end device). Really enjoyed Windows Phone 7. There's a little bit of a learning curve to it, but the platform is really well designed. All of the functions that I use are quick and easy to access, I just want a WP handset with a decent camera now!

Had an iPhone 3G before that. The iOS4 update problems knocked my confidence with the iPhone, basically killed my handset. My iPad (G1) hasn't been great since iOS5 was released either, so my confidence in Apple has been basically destroyed.

I've never owned an Android device, surprisingly. Maybe when my upgrade is due in October; it all depends how Jellybean and Windows Phone 8 compare (tablet will be an influence too, will be dumping my iPad around the same time).

htc one x currently with android 4.0. I had a galaxy s2 but the ics 4.0 update from t mobile slowed it down and made it glitchy as hell for me.
Missus has a windows phone up until a few days ago and they are good and fast and reliable, Sadly though the apps are more expensive and there are less of them.

Windows Phone right now, I just want a phone that works and I don't need to mess around with, I have enough of messing around with computers at work.

Android, preferably stock android. I like the homescreen customisation of Android and use a lot of Google services so it just makes sense for me to go with Android.
