Apple are renowned for getting stupendous deals and bulk buying...the flavour of parts really doesn't matter to them, and to a lesser degree their fans!

What is interesting, that outside of Tahiti,it seems the rest of AMD GCN based cards are quite competitive with regards to die size and power consumption when compared to Kepler.
The HD7770M does not use the full Cape Verde GPU which is around the same size as the GK107. The HD7850M and HD7870M use the full Cape Verde GPU.
Not really surprising when you consider how superior Juniper was vs GF116. Nvidia has actually closed the gap by a lot there, but they are still a little bit behind.
Im not surprised to see them switching back and forth. Its al about price and who can give them the quanity they want with a good price. Next cycle could be AMD again.
